Statement jewellery: From neon to black?

I feel like the fashion world has been obsessed with neon jewellery for ages. The statement jewellery trend of the past few years has always been intertwined with the neon trend, and we have all been drooling over brightly coloured statement pieces for the past few seasons. As regular readers will know, I instantly fall in love with anything neon, so the neon statement jewellery look was definitely one of my go-to favourites in times of outfit crises. However, with the new hottest colour combo being black and white, I think times may be changing. Despite my obsession with neon jewellery, I found myself drawn to this beautiful ring in the photo above from The PvdH Journal. All of a sudden, all my bright neons felt too garish compared to a piece that made such a subtle but strong style statement. Then, when I saw the necklace below at Covet Chic: an exact replica in terms of design of all the neon necklaces I've been wearing, but with black stones instead of the usual bright yellow ones, it made me think: is neon jewellery on its way out and is black statement jewellery the next big trend? Even Tom Binns, who pretty much started the neon statement jewellery trend, has a line of dark colours. Take a look at my picks below and let me know what you think!

Ettika neon bracelets

These cute bracelets by Ettika combine a few of my favourite things: gold, glitter and neon! They are the perfect little bracelets to create a colourful arm party that can be casual or dressed-up. The only problem I can foresee is deciding which colour to get! Available at R29 Reserve.

Lanvin wing bracelet

I found this bracelet at Style Heroine a while ago and completely fell in love with it!! The wire frame and the crystal wings are such a beautiful combination, making it a pretty, but cool piece. It is available at net-a-porter.

Pierre Hardy Cuffs

Yes, you read that right, cuffs by Pierre Hardy!!! (I hope I'm not the last one to find out about this) The legendary shoe designer has introduced a line of jewellery to his latest collection, made up of some geometric statement cuffs. Both designs come in black and gold and give the illusion of a 3D metal structure around your arm! Find them at Colette here and here.

Mango flower cuff

This beautiful cuff is another piece from Mango's amazing jewellery collection! It's much prettier than most of the jewellery we've been seeing around lately, but I think the colours make it so stunning. Talk about a statement cuff! It is available via Mango here.

Kurt Geiger Bangle

In the past year, we have seen the metal cuff become insanely popular. This trend is still going strong for Spring 2012, but lately I have been seeing thinner versions being worn. These metal bangles still give a slight edge to a look, without being a massive statement. This one by Kurt Geiger is extra special because of its shape. Practical? Probably not. Stylish? Definitely! Noir embellished neon bracelet

A while ago, I posted about a neon yellow embellished necklace from Noir. Everyone seemed to love it as much as I did, and now I have found the bracelet version! I think I might even prefer this to the beautiful statement necklace, I really like how the rhinestones are clustered together. Once again, this is a great DIY idea. Which one do you prefer? Frieda & Nellie jewellery + a reminder

First of all - I want to apologize for this post being a bit out of control in terms of the looong picture below, but I couldn't help myself, I just love everything this label makes! The brand is called Frieda & Nellie and all of its pieces are handmade. Almost all pieces include colourful braiding mixed with vintage rhinestones for a bright result. Mango cut out cuff

This cuff by Mango is an absolute stunner! It comes in silver and in gold, both with intricate cut-out details which make it more than just a simple cuff. I've been on the look out for the perfect simple cuffs, but this baby might just have changed my mind and made me want a more interesting piece. I can really see it enhancing a simple outfit!

Kate Bosworth for Jewel Mint

If you haven't seen it already, you have to watch this video!! It is a promotional video by Jewel Mint featuring Kate Bosworth and it is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. I could watch it over and over! This has to be the chicest ad I have ever seen, and the best one for jewellery ever. She makes everything look incredibly glamorous. WATCH IT!!!!

Dannijo arm parties

Dannijo has collaborated with the Man Repeller for a jewellery line before, and now they have used her fashion creativity in a new way: being inspired by what she has coined 'arm parties', they have created a page of arm party inspiration featuring their amazing designs. This page includes images of stacks of bracelets mixed and matched to create a wrist full of of bracelets. Check out the page here.

Kelly Wearstler vs Asos cuff

Remember this beautiful cuff I posted about a while ago? Well Asos has come to the rescue with a much more affordable option, although also less fabulous (isn't it always the case?). It is still an awesome statement cuff that will add some glamour to a look! Available here.

Joomi Lim necklace and bracelet

I loveee these two pieces of jewellery by Joomi Lim! The combination of rhinestones and chains is one I keep falling for over and over again. Such a beautiful contrast! The bracelet is available here, and the necklace is available here.

This cuff is so glamorous!! I love the gold stones on the smooth surface. Really great effect! Available via net-a-porter.

DIY inspiration: LK Designs bracelet

This cute bracelet from LK Designs is available at pret-a-beaute. However, I think it would also make a great DIY project! If you get any bracelet with a few strands, spray it black and then add some coloured ribbons and paint a few stones in a cool neon colour, a voila! A pretty bracelet is yours!

SuShilla Tallulah collection

These fabulous bangles are by a brand called SuShilla. This brand has many beautiful pieces, which all look very exotic and are inspired by places such as Marrakech and India. However, the 'Tallulah' collection is my absolute favourite. It features pretty gems set in silver or gold. I especially love the pieces that feature that lovely drusy stone as seen above. Iosselliani

Iosselliani is an Italian jewellery brand with amazing craftsmanship. The collections are designed by an Italian duo that really know how to make beautiful, but modern pieces. They take traditional symbols, such as feathers and leopard heads, and incorporate them into very contemporary designs, creating some absolutely fabulous pieces that I have fallen in love with. Miquella

Miquella is a London based jewellery brand that is very new and rapidly gaining popularity. It has already been featured in dozens of magazines, and celebrities such as Cheryl Cole have been seen wearing the pieces. Its designs are already available all over the world and with good reason: the pieces are all irresistible! Striking a perfect balance between edgy and glamorous, any of these items could instantly transform any outfit into something fabulous! Below are my top picks:

Love Aesthetics Blog: DIY Cuffs

Ivania Carpio of Love Aesthetics blog posted one of the best DIY's I've seen for a while last month. She made her own transparent cuffs (including one for her hair) by putting pieces of perspex in the oven and bending them.. Absolutely genius! Check out how to make your own here.

Miriam Salat is an American jewellery designer. She isn't very well-known in Europe, but her designs have been featured in many magazines and a lot of celebrities have been seen sporting her jewellery.
