I feel like the fashion world has been obsessed with neon jewellery for ages. The statement jewellery trend of the past few years has always been intertwined with the neon trend, and we have all been drooling over brightly coloured statement pieces for the past few seasons. As regular readers will know, I instantly fall in love with anything neon, so the neon statement jewellery look was definitely one of my go-to favourites in times of outfit crises. However, with the new hottest colour combo being black and white, I think times may be changing. Despite my obsession with neon jewellery, I found myself drawn to this beautiful ring in the photo above from The PvdH Journal. All of a sudden, all my bright neons felt too garish compared to a piece that made such a subtle but strong style statement. Then, when I saw the necklace below at Covet Chic: an exact replica in terms of design of all the neon necklaces I've been wearing, but with black stones instead of the usual bright yellow ones, it made me think: is neon jewellery on its way out and is black statement jewellery the next big trend? Even Tom Binns, who pretty much started the neon statement jewellery trend, has a line of dark colours. Take a look at my picks below and let me know what you think!
From top to bottom, after the first Covet Chic necklace: Max and Chloe earrings, Mawi brooch, Dannijo necklace, Iosselliani earrings, Covet Chic bracelet, Max and Chloe necklace, Joomi Lim necklace, Iosselliani necklace, Tom Binns necklace.

This necklace by Anton Heunis is much simpler than the big statement necklaces I usually go for, but I love the subtle statement that it would make. Check out the rest of the collection here.

Kate Hudson for Ann Taylor: the jewellery
When I saw this picture on Fashion Foie Gras, all I could look at was that stunning necklace! Then when I saw more pics of Kate Hudson's campaign for Ann Taylor, fell in love with every single piece of jewellery! Ann Taylor is definitely the place to go for statement necklaces this season!

Sabrina Dehoff jewellery
Hope & Fear is one of Sabrina Dehoff's a/w collections. I was particularly drawn to this collection because of the coloured stones, as you can see in the bottom left of the picture above. These stones are matched with a similarly coloured rope to create monochrome jewellery that would add a strong pop of colour to a look. Although I couldn't find the more colourful pieces on the website, I also love the monochrome necklaces below for a sophisticated statement. Find them here.

Mango beetle necklace
A few seasons ago, bugs started entering our the world of jewellery. Not literally, thank goodness, but lots of designers started incorporating bug designs in their collections. Topshop has been especially keen on this trend, coming up with lots of beetle and bumble bee necklaces. Now Mango has given a very chic spin on this trend. This beetle necklace has a chain covered in fabric and a beetle made out of some beautiful stones. Available here.

Miss Selfridge Spring 2012 lookbook: jewellery inspiration
Miss Selfridge's lookbook for spring 2012 has some great outfits, like the one above. But the two looks that really caught my eye were those below, because of the styling. I love the necklaces in the outftis. Both those necklaces really transform the looks into something special. Keeping a close eye on Miss Selfridge's jewellery section from now on! See the rest of the lookbook here.

Frieda & Nellie jewellery + a reminder
First of all - I want to apologize for this post being a bit out of control in terms of the looong picture below, but I couldn't help myself, I just love everything this label makes! The brand is called Frieda & Nellie and all of its pieces are handmade. Almost all pieces include colourful braiding mixed with vintage rhinestones for a bright result. I especially love all the bracelets, although I think my favourite item might be the neon earrings! Shop the collection here.
PS - IF YOU ARE A GFC FOLLOWER, DON'T FORGET THAT GOOGLE FRIEND CONNECT WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FOR NON-GOOGLE USERS FROM THE 1ST OF MARCH. I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU STAID CONNECTED IN ANOTHER WAY, SUCH AS TWITTER OR BLOGLOVIN

Kurt Geiger neon necklace
The shows going on for Fall 2012 at the moment have told us to hold on to our obsession with neon for a little bit longer. You won't hear me complaining! My latest find is this beauty from Kurt Geiger. It features glass stones with a neon yellow background that would work perfectly under the collar of a shirt. You could add this to so many outfits! I would love to see it with other citrus colours such as tangerine. How would you style it?

Style Recipe: Zip necklaces
How amazing are these zipper statement necklaces?! I think they look so professional and expensive! They are in fact a DIY by Make it or Fake it! In a few simple steps, this blog explains how to bend, glue and sew these zips and a rhinestone to create these beauties. The idea is simple, and you can experiment so much, with different coloured zips, rhinestones, or designs of the forms of the necklaces! For the full post and other amazing DIY's, check the blog out on the link above!

Style Recipe: Brooch Necklace
I have been obsessing over bib-style necklaces with clustered embellishments for some time now, but couldn't find any cheap ones. Then I came across this tutorial at P.S. - I made this. It is pure genius! The idea is simple: you find some cheap brooches and cluster them on some fabric (sew them in so that they don't weigh the fabric down) et voila! You have a beautiful necklace!

DIY inspiration: Noir Jewellery neon necklace
As someone who is instantly attracted to anything shiny and anything neon, this necklace is a dream come true! It is available in black and in neon yellow here. Or, alternatively, if you find a neon cord, maybe you could add on some gem hangers.. I wonder if it would be easy to find those somewhere?
